Automotive self-adhesive insulation consists of butyl. KILMAT sound deadening has a total weight of 0.35 lbs/1sqft (1.75 kg/1 sqm). This weight ensures optimum efficiency and sound insulation that could be possibly gained from 50 mil (1.3 mm) thickness material. KILMAT 50 mil (1.3 mm) is light weighted sound deadening material!
KILMAT car insulation has a special indicator as to if it is installed correctly. The special embossing on the foil must be rolled out till it is plain smooth, then you’ll be 100% sure that the soundproofing is set correctly and professionally! The sound dampening material comes in handy size sheets which make it easier in terms of cutting and installation process!

Great sound mat for the price!
This is a good product. Many people go with KILMAT because of the value to price point. I did as well. When you clean the surface (in my case it was all painted metal) this stuff sticks very well. I do recommend you use a seam roller of some type, I used Lumiteco 3 piece roller set. This will help with adhesion and mostly flatten the overlapped edges. It also helps you see where you have rolled as it leaves little grooves. The difference when we had no sound mats and after was very impressive. We haven’t finished our install yet and it is quieter than when we had an interior in the van. There are thicker mats available in other brands, but this will work great for our van build, but this helps keep the weight down. It is quality material, just be careful when you are removing the backing, the edge of the foil face can cut you. I suggest you layout where you are installing the mat and cut to fit. From what I have read, you don’t need to cover every inch in the vehicle, just spot install for a big difference. I chose to cover most surfaces to help keep sound out when we are sleeping in the van. We haven’t finished putting the van yet, but we have driven it around and been very satisfied with this product.

Great budget option
Works as intended. They say no asphalt in it but it does have that smell to it, I’ve yet to smell it in cabin though only caught it during installation. Installation is easy just be careful the edges are sharp and it can leave a black sticky residue over anything it touches.

I’ve bought this product twice now and it works as advertised I enjoyed his cheap price point and it’s effectiveness. Not five stars just because I’m a little worried about the smell but last time I installed it did not so I’m pretty confident

Great stuff. Use this in conjunction with the foam. My truck sounds like a luxury car.Buy more than you think you will need. It goes very fast. I have ordered several times and I still need more.It’s ok to cut. Use a razor blade to make it easier. Sticks very well.Overall I’m happy to have used this. The sound in the truck is very quiet. It’s a newer truck but they aren’t made the same as they used to be. Another benefit, the speakers are more clear too. Great purchase!

Keeps my network rack quiet.
I bought these to help sound proof my network rack. They do an amazing job. So easy to install and the glue is really strong. You can cut them down to fit. I also put some in my Nas to help with vibration from the hdd. Excellent price.

So if your buying this, you’re either killing road noise in your vehicle, or installing a sound system in a vehicle.Let me start buy saying…is it as good as Dynamat? No. Its not…BUT…..please continue reading.Dynamat, at the time of this review, is 5x the cost of this stuff, and its NOT 5x better. its only VERY slightly better. And honestly, BOTH are Butyl Rubber, so the only thing that makes the dynamat better, is its a hair thicker. I bought 3 boxes of the stuff for around half the price of 1 box of Dynamat, and I would do it again. I am building an older mazda truck, and I put 1 layer on the inside of the door skins and roof, 2 layers on the back wall, and 3 on the floor and firewall, and its SILENT inside the truck. It stopped ALL the vibration, sheetmetal reverberation, and the drum effect from thin sheet metal. Its nice and thick, it cuts easy, and sticks well.A couple of pointers before you install it….Vacuum out all the dust. you want the best possible contact from the rubber to the surface of the panel.Get the installation roller. You can do it without it, but it makes mashing it down a lot easier.Don’t waste time fitting it like a jigsaw puzzle. I was trying to do that because I assumed it would give a better end result, until my audio installer friend came over and just told me overlap it and call it day. Its getting covered with panels, and the more weight from the deadener the better. Ended up taking all the little cut parts and sticking them on the firewall.This stuff doesn’t look, feel, or act like a cheap “store brand knock off”. Get a box and try it before you spend a fortune on “name brand” stuff that is the exact same material with a different logo.Highly recommended. Will buy more if I need it in the future.
